Safety Information

Your safety is the foundation of personalized care. Please review the important safety information below before starting or continuing any Ascenva treatment.

Last updated: June 15, 2026

Compounded medication disclosure: Medications offered through Ascenva Labs are compounded by U.S. state-licensed 503A and 503B pharmacies and are not reviewed or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for safety, effectiveness, or quality. Information on this page is for general educational purposes and is not medical advice. Always discuss your individual situation with a licensed clinician.

GLP-1 medications — important warning

Thyroid C-cell tumors. Compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide are contraindicated in people with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2). Tell your care team right away if you experience hoarseness, a lump or swelling in your neck, trouble swallowing, or shortness of breath.

Do not use GLP-1 treatment if you

  • Are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding
  • Have a personal or family history of MTC or MEN 2
  • Have a known allergy to semaglutide, tirzepatide, or any ingredient in the formulation
  • Have a history of pancreatitis or severe gastrointestinal disease (your case requires clinician review before any treatment)

Possible serious side effects

Seek medical care promptly if you experience any of the following: severe or persistent abdominal pain (possible pancreatitis), gallbladder problems, changes in vision, signs of low blood sugar, kidney problems (often related to dehydration from nausea or vomiting), or a serious allergic reaction.

Common side effects

The most common side effects are gastrointestinal — nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, stomach pain, heartburn, bloating, and gas — along with headache, tiredness, and dizziness. These are usually mild and tend to improve over time. Contact your care team if symptoms are severe or persistent.

Sexual health treatments

  • Do not combine with nitrates. Products containing PDE5 inhibitors (such as sildenafil, tadalafil, or vardenafil) must not be used with nitrate medications or recreational nitrates ("poppers"), as the combination can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure.
  • Talk to a licensed clinician before use if you have heart disease, low or high blood pressure, or have had a stroke or heart attack.
  • Seek emergency care for an erection lasting more than four hours (priapism) or for sudden vision or hearing loss.
  • Sexual health programs are available to adults 21 and older, subject to clinical eligibility.

General safety

  • Telehealth care is not a substitute for in-person emergency care. For a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
  • Provide complete and accurate health information so your clinician can determine whether treatment is appropriate for you.
  • Store and use all medications exactly as directed by your clinician and the pharmacy.
  • Report side effects to your care team. You may also report side effects to the FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088 or via the FDA MedWatch program.
